BELLINGHAM, Wash. -You have a chance to walk or bike a trail Saturday that’s typically off limits to the public.
Heather Carter says “The particular segment that we’re opening on saturday runs basically parallel to the west side of the airport. So were outside the airport boundaries, but we’re still on land owned by the airport and the port of Bellingham.”
Heather Carter with the Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation says you can walk or bike the trail between Marine Drive and Slater Road between 11 and 3 tomorrow.
It offers some great – and rarely seen – views of airport operations.
Find parking on Kope Road off of Slater.
And the Parks Department is also looking for volunteers to help break ground on a trail in the new Lake Whatcom Park tomorrow between 9AM and 3. Get information and register at the County Parks and Recreation website.
