BELLINGHAM, Wash. – There have not been any confirmed cases of monkeypox in Whatcom County yet, but local health officials are preparing for its arrival.

The Health Department says a limited supply of the monkeypox vaccine should arrive soon.

There are currently over 5,800 cases of monkeypox in the U.S., 120 of which are right here in Washington state.

The virus primarily spreads through skin-to-skin contact, but transmission through brief casual interactions is unlikely.
