MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Whatcom County is joining forces with neighboring counties to improve regional collaboration.
A new group, called SWISS, is composed of leadership from Snohomish, Whatcom, Island, Skagit and San Juan counties.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports they held their first meeting Thursday where leaders discussed issues that “don’t stop at county borders,” including transportation, housing, and the opioid epidemic.
They will meet regularly to develop policy proposals for the state Legislature.
