BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The reopening of Whatcom County libraries didn’t last long.

Library buildings closed in March in accordance with Washington’s Safe Start Plan and then reopened early this month with modified services.

Effective Monday, buildings in the Whatcom County Library System will again be closed to the public.

The decision was made after library staff consulted with local health officials who encouraged the change in response to a surge in COVID-19 cases in Whatcom County.

Libraries will continue to offer curbside pickup and online resources, including WiFi from library parking lots.
