BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man who had a heart attack in the North Cascades also got some help from the Navy Monday.
A Whidbey Naval Air Station Search and Rescue team flew to the scene on Lower Lake Watson in Whatcom County.
They airlifted the 77-year-old to Saint Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
The Navy says it was very important to get the man to the hospital quickly.
They estimate that it would have taken a ground crew about 12-hours to get the man out.
