BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) A Whatcom County man was arrested after explosive-making materials were allegedly found at his home.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deb Slater says that as part of a no contact order, the suspect was required to report and surrender any weapons he had in his possession.

He signed off on the order in June, stating he did not have any weapons.

However, deputies were tipped off to possible weapons being kept at the suspect’s home earlier this month.

A search warrant uncovered three guns, including an AR-15 rifle, five homemade explosives, and materials that could be used to make additional explosives.

The suspect, 43-year-old Matthew Simmons, was arrested following the search on Thursday, October 26th.

He was released from the Whatcom County Jail Friday on $200,000 bail.
