BELLINGHAM, Wash – A Whatcom County man can thank the DEA office in Bellingham for saving him $15,000.
78-year-old Chuck tells Q-13 he fell for the grandparent scam.
The scam works like this, a person calls claiming to be a grandchild in trouble and gets the elderly person to send money.
Chuck mailed the $15,000, but DEA agents intercepted the package.
They returned the money to him.
