BELLINGHAM, Wash – Talk is turning to Monday’s eclipse.
The moon’s shadow will make first U.S. landfall in Oregon.
An interactive map from timeanddate.com shows In Whatcom County, the obstruction of the sun will start at 9:10a.m., reachit its peak at 10:20, and end at 11:38.
87% of the sun will be obstructed in Whatcom County at the peak of the eclipse.
Like many employers, local auto shop owner Kirk Norkoski says his staff will get some time off to step outside and view the eclipse.
The City of Ferndale is hosting a viewing event at Pioneer Park starting at 10 .a.m. Monday, featuring a NASA scientist; KGMI and KAFE will broadcast live from there.
If you are travelling to Oregon to see the full eclipse, the Or of Transportation urges you to head there today if possible, and stay until Tuesday to avoid expected traffic snarls.
