OLYMPIA, Wash. — Whatcom County’s real unemployment rate ticked up in November.
The non-seasonally adjusted number moved to 7 percent, up from 6.3 in October, and 4.6% November a year ago.
Compared to a year ago, the total number of people employed in Whatcom County was down by nearly 3900.
Statewide, decreases in regular initial claims occurred across most industry sectors with the largest decreases occurring in the Accommodation and food services and Construction industry sectors.
In the week ending December 12, ESD paid out over $145 million for 300,225 individual claims statewide.
Since the crisis began in March, ESD has paid more than $12.9 billion in benefits to over a million Washingtonians.
