WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Voters in two Whatcom County school districts are voting in a special election today, Tuesday, February 8th.

Bellingham Schools are asking voters to approve a $122 million bond that would finance construction of a new elementary school and start the planning process for replacements for two other elementary schools.

It would also help complete some other construction projects and pay for improvements to Kulshan Middle and other schools.

The district estimates it would add about $17 per month to the average Bellingham homeowners’ tax bill

Ferndale voters are considering a Levy Replacement to pay for on-going programs and operations.

A proposition to pay for a new Birch Bay Library is also on the ballot for some.

Ballots must be postmarked by today, Tuesday, February 8th, or in a drop box by 8 p.m.
