BELLINGHAM, Wash – 4-20 is a term that refers to smoking pot at 4:20 AM or PM and celebrating cannabis on April 20th.

That’s today. Aaron Nelson with marijuana retailer 2020 Solutions says the pot business is booming in Whatcom County.

“At last count I believe there was 23 retailers, open and selling cannabis, and Washington continues to grow as more and more stores open, we’re definitely seeing an increase in sales as people get used to purchasing in the regulated market.”

However, the Trump administration may not follow President Obama’s hands-off approach towards recreational cannabis, just listen to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Federal law on marijuana remains in effect in every state. It’s not eviscerated because a state ceases to enforce the law in that state.”

That’s not slowing down Surjit Singh.

Seattle magazine did and article about his family’s greenhouse behind his Intercontinental Foods store on Meridian in Bellingham.

The 62 year old Indian immigrant is a Sikh who doesn’t smoke pot, but he’s hoping the grow business will allow him to retire someday.
