Whatcom County’s unemployment rate continues to shrink

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The local unemployment rate continues to shrink while our economy adds jobs.

The Employment Security Department reports Whatcom County had an unemployment rate of 4% in July, down from 4.7% in June.

Almost a thousand more people joined the local workforce from June to July.

The local jobless rate was 6.1% a year ago.

Washington’s statewide unemployment rate was at an all-time low of 3.6%.
