BELLINGHAM,WASH.- The Whatcom County Library System says cuts proposed in President Trump’s 2018 budget would hurt library users.

Trump’s Budget Director Mick Mulvaney says they created the budget blueprint from combing through Trump’s speeches.

“We had an America-first candidate, we now have an America-first president, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that we have an America-first budget,” Mulvaney says.

The library system sent out a letter that says if Trump’s budget is approved, local libraries could see cuts to programs that provide eBooks, eAudiobooks and services for the blind.

The library system says the Washington Rural Heritage Mount Baker Foothills collection of photographs, documents and artifacts could also suffer.
