BELLINGHAM, Wash. — More than two dozen childcare providers across Whatcom County will be getting funding in an effort to support working families.

A countywide collaboration called Whatcom ReStart has allocated nearly $700,000 to local preschools, daycares and the like that have been impacted by COVID-19.

Grants will, in turn, support local families who depend on childcare to keep their jobs and remain self-sufficient.

Funding comes from the federal CARES Act and will go to several businesses in Bellingham, and Blaine as well as a few in Ferndale and Deming.
