EVERSON, Wash. – The Nooksack River helicopter rescue on Monday highlights some of the dangers of floating on rivers.
Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks says the river is still running fast.
“People need to know the environment, the location where they’re going, the section of river they’re going to, because it can really change dramatically, and each one can present different hazards and challenges.
Parks says you need to keep away from downed trees, log jams, eddies and floating debris.
He adds that you should always wear a lifejacket and never go out alone.
