Our local economy added 2,000 non-farm jobs in October and about 3400 jobs from the same time last year.

New figures from the Employment Security Department show the majority of the job gains over the past year came in the private sector.

Construction continues to be the main driver of Whatcom’s economy, with about 113,275 residents working in the labor force.

The new unemployment rate in Whatcom County was 4.2%  last month.
