OLYMPIA, Wash. — As wildfires keep burning and the heat stays with us, impacts continue to be felt.

Gov. Inslee has declared a state of emergency that will allow for resources to be mobilized to help battle the wildfires.

The Bureau of Land Management is restricting camping, day use, and access on lands it manages.

They say moderate to heavy smoke impacts from the fires are expected to continue along the western slopes of the Cascades and into the Willamette Valley.

Turning to air quality, the EPA’s Air Quality Now website puts Bellingham air at green, or satisfactory quality this morning, forecasted to move to yellow, indicating moderate smoke pollution levels today.

Parts of the county near Mount Baker including Maple Falls have moderately polluted already this morning

The EPA forecasts a return to good air quality for all areas of the county tomorrow.
