OLYMPIA, Wash. — With some of the worst wildfires in state history ravaging California, and dry conditions worrying some in Washington, a website that advises people for packing and moving has taken note.
Move.org calculated the number of acres burned and the cost to repair property damage across America when ranking the most dangerous and safest states for homeowners.
Washington is the fourth most dangerous state for wildfires, due largely to the costs involved in repairing property, which surpassed $11 million last year.
California is by far the most expensive state for homeowners, with the second most acres burned and nearly four times the costs for property damage repair as the second most dangerous state, Texas.
Nevada and Kansas round out the top five.
