VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Wildfires are burning out of control in much of central British Columbia.
CBC Vancouver reports a state of emergency was declared Friday due to the 182 fires burning at that time.
The Washington State Department of Ecology is not showing an impact on local air quality yet; Whatcom County reporting stations were all reporting good air quality as of Sunday morning.
A ban on open burning in unincorporated Whatcom County continues.
Recreational fires in pits 3 feet in diameter or less are still allowed.
