BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A lot of us will be waking up to darkness this morning thanks to Thursday’s winds that tore through the Puget Sound, hitting Whatcom, Skagit, Island and Kitsap Counties the hardest.

As of this morning, Puget Sound Energy had more than 13,300 customers without power in Whatcom County alone, the majority of which were in Deming, Point Roberts and the Sudden Valley area.

Most of the power outages started when winds peaked between 9 AM and 11 AM on Thursday, with gusts topping out at 62 MPH at the Bellingham Airport.

PSE is busily fixing downed lines, but at this point they do not have estimates as to when power will be restored.

If your power is out, do not call the police, and remember to treat darkened intersections as 4-way stops.
