Winter storm Oliver gave the Cascades an impressive snowfall and helped this summer’s water supply.
ECOconnect, a Department of Ecology blog says measurement sites across the Cascades received almost 10 percent of their annual total during the storm.
Wells Creek of the Nooksack river added 11 percent to it’s annual snowfall total.
A continuation of the higher temperatures earlier this winter would have resulted in an early snow-melt, which leave less for rivers, drinking water and farms during summer.
