SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — A grand jury has charged a witness with lying in the investigation into the shooting death of an assistant U.S. attorney in Seattle in 2001.

The Seattle Times reports the grand jury indicted Shawna Reid on charges of obstruction of justice and lying to a grand jury for her testimony about a suspect in the murder of Thomas Wales.

For years, investigators have focused on a pilot who had been prosecuted by Wales, but charges have never been brought against him.

Reid’s indictment appears to be the first that is tied to Wales’ killing.
