FERNDALE, Wash. – A woman is in custody for firing shots at another woman as they drove down I-5 in Whatcom County Friday evening.
State Patrol Trooper Jacob Kennett says the situation began in a parking lot in Ferndale, where 29-year-old Ashley Leeann Phillips hit a woman’s van with an object as the two argued.
The woman’s vehicle hit Phillips’ Lexus as she drove away, and Phillips followed her onto I-5.
Phillips fired a number of shots into the van as they drove toward Bellingham.
She exited the freeway and officers made a high risk arrest of her in the parking lot of the Burger King at Meridian and Telegraph.
There were no injuries.
Phillips faces charges of drive-by shooting and assault.
