BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A woman ended up with a gunshot wound to the butt when she tried to hold up a Bellingham convenience store.

Court records state that Grace Cooper walked into the 7-Eleven store on Northwest Avenue at about 3 a.m. on September 21st, pulled a gun and demanded the money in the register.

The clerk grabbed her gun and it went sliding across the floor.

She then punched the clerk who pulled his own gun and warned her and a male accomplice to get back.

They walked toward the gun on the floor and the clerk fired one shot, hitting Cooper in the right buttock.

Her weapon turned out to be a pellet gun and the clerk was found to have acted in self-defense.

Officers found her across the street from the store and she was taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.

A warrant for her arrest was issued on September 30th and she was taken into custody on Friday, October 1st.
