MARYSVILLE, WASH. – A Marysville grocery clerk is slashed in the face while trying to stop a woman from shoplifting meat Sunday morning from a Bellingham-based store.

Police say the the woman and her boyfriend went into the Haggen Food & Pharmacy on 88th Street just after 4:00 in the morning.

They say the woman snatched several packages of rib-eye steak and bacon and was walking out of the store while her boyfriend was paying for other items.

Police say the clerk confronted her and she and the boyfriend hit the clerk in the face several times before the woman ran to her car, returned with a knife, and slashed the clerk’s face.

Police arrived and arrested the couple.
