BELLINGHAM, Wash. – It didn’t take much to start a fire at a Whatcom County home.
Fire investigator Mitch Nolze said a bad porch light sparked the Sunday night blaze on Woodbine Way off Yew Street Road.
Nobody was hurt.
Nolze, who is also a battalion chief for South Whatcom Fire, said firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the roof.
The firefighters quickly got the blaze under control, managing to keep it from spreading from the attic.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
