MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Work has begun on more than 24,000-square-feet of commercial space that officials hope will draw people into downtown Mount Vernon.
Mayor Jill Boudreau, City Council members, and development company reps celebrated at a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the development will occupy a lot in Mount Vernon along I-5 that’s been vacant for years.
The City’s senior planner said construction on the first business, a 7-Eleven, could start as soon as next spring.
