BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Two local drivers were seriously injured late Saturday in a wrong-way crash on I-5 near the Samish Way exit.

The State Patrol says 23-year-old Shannon Hofer of Blaine was driving north in the southbound lanes when she collided head-on with a car driven by 22-year-old Ryann Lacey of Bellingham.

Both women were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Troopers believe drugs or alcohol were involved and the crash remains under investigation.
