OLYMPIA, Wash. — Forget prepping for Thanksgiving dinner, it’s time to prep for weekend traffic.

The Washington State Department of Transportation tells drivers to expect a busy time on the roads November 21-25.

WSDOT advises use of their mobile app to check road and ferry conditions.

Highway 20 is still open, but travelers are encouraged to check its status before heading out as it’s slated to close around the holiday.

Besides roads, the state ferry system is expecting a crowded Thanksgiving weekend as well.

Vehicle reservations or walking aboard is recommended for the Anacortes-San Juan Islands-Sidney, B.C. and Port Townsend-Coupeville routes.

Several routes will run on modified holiday schedules.
