GLACIER, Wash. – The end of the season is on the horizon for Mount Baker hikers and visitors.
WSDOT announced that they will be closing Mount Baker Highway from the Silver Fir Campground to Artist Point starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, October 3rd.
The roadway will remain closed until 4:30 p.m. every day through Friday of next week.
Crews will be preparing the road for the winter season.
The US Forest Service added that the Heather Meadows Visitor Center has already closed for the season.
The Glacier Public Service center will also close as of Sunday.
Trails near Artist Point will also be shut down during the road closure.
