Washington State University is requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for the 2021-22 school year.
All students attending classes or activities on campus or at any WSU facilities will be required to have proof of vaccination.
The school says it intends to extend the requirement to all staff and volunteers.
WSU President Kirk Schulz says the move is proper because the vaccines have been shown to “nearly eliminate the chances of death or serious illness related to a COVID-19 infection.”
Exemptions will be allowed for medical, religious or personal reasons.
But those who don’t get the shot may be required to undergo regular testing or other safety measures.
