BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Electric buses may be in Bellingham’s future.

Whatcom Transportation Authority is leasing an all-electric bus from August through December to allow them to gauge its performance on our local terrain.

One electric bus would reduce WTA’s carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1000 tons over it’s twelve-year service life, cutting 100,000 gallons of fuel.

The electric bus has signage on the outside, making it easy to spot around town.

WTA says riders are most likely to catch the electric bus on Routes 14, 15 and 25 on weekdays and routes 1,3 and 27 on Saturdays.
