A recent email alert sent to Western Washington University staff and students reportedly went straight to their junk folders.
The message sent Friday was regarding the death of 23-year-old Christopher Kuyvenhoven in the hot tub at the university rec center.
In an email to the community, Western said many of the emails from the incident were sent directly into recipients’ junk or spam folders, which they say resulted from the vendor using new email servers that had not yet been verified by the university’s email system.
They will now also add alerts to their Emergency Page.
