The Western Viking men’s basketball team lost at home to Alaska Fairbanks Thursday night 96-85. Fairbanks star Shadeed Shabazz tied a Carver Gym opponents scoring record with 43 points. Western falls to 13-8 on the year and 8-5 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. They host Alaska Anchorage Saturday night at 7:00.
The Western women beat Seattle Pacific on the road 77-62. Lexie Bland led the Vikings with 17 points. Western improves to 16-5 on the season and 10-3 in conference. The women visit Saint Martin’s in Lacey Saturday at 5:15.
