SEATTLE, Wash. — A new study looked at nearly 1,000 colleges and universities across the U.S., highlighting how they perform in seven categories, and Washington ended up with 9 schools on the list.

WalletHub places the University of Washington at 65 in the overall ranking, and as the top university in Washington, thanks to high marks in student selections, campus experience and educational and career outcomes.

Their bitter rival WSU ranks at 216, while Whitman College in Walla Walla came in at 114.

Our local Western Washington University doesn’t do quite as well, showing up in the overall ranking at 384 due to lower ratings in student selections and faculty resources.

It likely comes as no surprise that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology took first place, followed by Princeton, Yale, Harvard and the California Institute of Technology.
