BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University students are launching Whatcom County’s first-ever disaster awareness and preparedness survey this spring.

The university is partnering with the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office to put on the program that will take place in Bellingham, Blaine and Lynden each spring for the next few years.

Students will go door-to-door to ask residents about their household and community preparedness.

The data will be used to improve community outreach and preparedness for natural disasters.
