BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University is teaming up with the Port of Bellingham to establish a key waterfront project.

The two agencies have a plan to move forward with the Western Crossing Innovation Park that will allow the university to develop approximately 6 acres in Bellingham’s Waterfront District.

Western says they envision a Waterfront District that includes an innovative community and incubator for new and expanding businesses.

According to Port documents, the focus of the park would be renewable energy research and development.
