Western Washington University garnered two Great Northwest Athletic Conference weekly awards. Junior soccer forward Gabriela Pelogi was named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week. Senior opposite Joellee Buckner was named the GNAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Pelogi recorded her second hat trick of the season in Saturday’s 6-0 win over Central Washington and registered five shots in the 1-0 victory at Seattle Pacific earlier in the week. It’s the third time this season and fifth career weekly conference award for the Federal Way star.

The two victories lifted WWU women to 14-0-0 overall and 10-0-0 in GNAC play, extending the program’s winning streak to 38 consecutive games dating back to the start of last season.

Buckner helped lead the 8th-ranked WWU volleyball team to a 2-0 week with road sweeps at Simon Fraser on Tuesday and Montana State Billings on Saturday. In the The Colville native averaged 6.17 digs and 1.50 blocks per set,  as the Vikings improved to 17-3 overall and extend their current win streak to 10 consecutive matches.

This is the second GNAC Player of the Week honor for Buckner this season, and in her career,
