GLACIER, Wash. — One young woman is dead and another was hospitalized after a crash on the Mount Baker Highway.
The State Patrol says 21-year-old Madeline R. Hurd of Bellingham was driving just west of Glacier Wednesday morning when her car spun out, rolled onto the passenger side and came to rest with the roof against a large tree.
Hurd was declared dead at the scene while her passenger, Gina L. Heuscher from Bellingham, was hospitalized.
Troopers believe Hurd was driving too fast for conditions and say drugs and alcohol were not involved.
