OLYMPIA, Wash. — Students around Washington will be getting to school in zero-emission electric buses next year.
Funding from Washington’s Volkswagen diesel emission settlement will pay for the buses, which will go to 22 different school districts across the state.
The settlement stems from the discovery Volkswagen illegally installed software on its diesel cars that activated emission controls only when it detected the emissions were being tested.
Whatcom County will not receive any of these new buses, though San Juan County will get two and Island county one.
