BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) – An eastern Washington aerospace company with ties to Bellingham was fined $500,000 by the state Department of Labor and Industries.

It’s one of the largest penalties ever.

17 workers were injured in an explosion at the Zodiac Cabin & Structures Support plant in Newport in 2015.

Zodiac has more than 100 locations worldwide, including one here in Bellingham.
