Alcoa recently announced the curtailment of their Intalco smelter near Ferndale, which would eliminate jobs for about 700 workers. In response, several Washington state lawmakers sent a letter to Alcoa President and CEO Roy Harvey urging the company work with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to find a solution to the forthcoming layoffs. He joins Tessa on the KGMI Afternoon News to talk about what the closure would mean for Whatcom County and why he is urging Alcoa, along with the Trump administration, to help keep it open.
