FERNDALE, Wash. — Police will have an increased presence on the Ferndale High School campus Wednesday after a student was arrested for threatening to shoot up the school.
Police arrested the student, who seemed to be acting alone, Monday night after parents called saying the student warned their kids to stay home and several other students confirmed they also heard the threat.
Ferndale Schools emphasize that the increased police presence on campus is for support, not because there is a continuing threat.
The district added mental health counselors to each school this year and they are also available to support students.
