BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The medical examiner says 71-year-old Richard T. Lonseth of Ferndale was the man who rode his bicycle into the path of an Amtrak train in downtown Bellingham earlier this week.

The Bellingham Herald says Dr. Gary Goldfogel ruled the death accidental.

Police Lieutenant Claudia Murphy says Lonseth ignored lowered crossing arms, flashing warning signals and warnings from a nearby flagging crew as he rode a bike into the path of the southbound train Tuesday morning.
