LYNDEN, Wash. — A preliminary count of ballots in Tuesday’s Whatcom County Conservation Board election shows challenger Valeri Wade ahead of incumbent Theresa Sygitowicz by more than 1,000 votes.
Wade leads Sygitowicz 2,388 to 1,382.
Ballots postmarked by March 26 will be counted on April 1st, and results will be certified in May.
The Conservation Board works with landowners, farmers and the general public on issues related to natural resource preservation and the environment.
