BELLINGHAM, Wash. — This Saturday is the 17th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The DEA will work with local law enforcement and community and tribal partners to help residents dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications.
They cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps of any kind.
Whatcom County has 5 drop-off sites, where residents can safely dispose of prescription drugs, no questions asked.
Stop by the Bellingham Police Department, Ferndale Police Department, Lynden Police Department, the North Fork Library, and the Blaine Police Department any time from 10 AM to 2 PM on April 27.
The goal of drug take back is to keep prescriptions out of the hands of those who may abuse them.
During last October’s take back day, a staggering 15,000 pounds of drugs were disposed of across the 98 collection sites in Washington.
