BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Long anticipated work on the Bellingham waterfront has begun and the City of Bellingham says it will impact traffic flow in the area.
Earth moving equipment is now at the Granary Avenue and Laurel Street site as work gets underway to build new public and franchise utilities, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, landscaping, street lighting, and waterfront access.
The City of Bellingham says delivery vehicle traffic at the former GP siteĀ at Chestnut Street will force lane closures in that area as well as the intersection of Cornwall Avenue and Laurel Street.
In addition, Roeder Avenue will be closed from late January through March to allow utility contractors to build a new temporary driveway in the area.
Meantime, the Port of Bellingham has scheduled an open house to reveal two new proposed changes for improving public access through the downtown waterfront Development.
City employees and representatives from the Port and Harcourt Developments will detail the proposals, answer questions, and take input January 17th from 3-7pm, at the Granary Building.
