BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Democrats are moving to fill the 40th District State Senate seat left vacant by Kevin Ranker’s resignation.
They’ll hold a special caucus to nominate three finalists to fill the seat.
The caucus will be held on Saturday, February 2 from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center on Harris Avenue in Fairhaven.
Only precinct committee officers will vote on the candidates, and the top three will be submitted to the Whatcom and San Juan County Councils and the Skagit County Commission.
The council members and commissioners will then pick the person to take the vacant seat.
Ranker stepped down on January 11 over charges of sexual misconduct.
