HAMILTON, Wash. — Hamilton takes another step toward getting out of dodge of the Skagit River.

Last week, the Town Council approved a zoning change on 42-acres of annexed land so it works for business-commercial.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports Forterra, the group helping Hamilton move, can now go on with designing the development project for the land.

Regular flooding along the Skagit River has damaged towns near the water.

While Hamilton is working to move further away from the river, Lyman, which has lost several homes and quite a bit of land, is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to prevent further loss.
