BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Granary Avenue and Waypoint Park are closed during this weeks’ projected high winds.
This safety measure comes in response to the windstorm in December unexpectedly blowing off a light fixture.
The City of Bellingham says the fixtures are designed to withstand sustained winds of up to 90 MPH, so they are working with the manufacturer to fix the problem.
As a safety precaution, the city says it’s closing the area until the winds subside.
